Literature Text

People are born as
Blank canvasses.
Every person met adds
A little color to the masterpiece
That no amount of smearing
Or white paint can hide.
Everyone's dyes are arranged
In different patterns and pictures,
But in the end,
Everyone is still a blank canvass

Underneath.
I originally came up with this as my personal description on Facebook. Then I moved it to Twitter. Then I decided today that it was really a poem, and I just hadn't realized it before. So here it is.

Excellent poem. Really shows how each person is born the same and eventually grows up to be poles apart from each other. On a tad negative side, it's a bit of a cliche. The metaphorical use of a blank canvas to allude to the neutral starting point of all homo sapien life. But I digress you managed to turn something considered cliched into something refreshing and thought-provoking. Especially the lone "underneath" in the last line, which gives the overall poem an ending note to continue the reader's thought.
