Literature Text

Our voices float across the airwaves
And sing each other out to sea,
As we are pulled along by riptides;
By ocean-current sleep.
I will whisper you a lullaby
As you sink down among; surrender
To the swirling tide of sheets.
As words begin to fail you,
(Though you insist you are awake,)
There is so much that you should know,
Your consciousness slips away,
But there are still words I’m scared to say.
What if you somehow remembered all
Those secrets I could speak?
Maybe I’ll tell you when I’m older
And not so much afraid.
This is my 18th poem for NaPoWriMo 2014. Sooooo all the marine terms are supposed to point toward the indecision of sharing certain secrets at the end.
