Literature Text

You are amiable; inviting.
Your smile is electric.
Your arms are compelling,
And your hands are always warm.
My hands are always cold.

Your voice is alluring,
And the way you laugh
Can always make me smile.
When you're with me,
I can't bear for you to leave.
Your eyes are so tempting,
But my hands are far too cold.

The words that you whisper
Almost make me feel human.
And they make me feel
Safe for a while,
But the moment you're gone,
All the warmth leaves with you,
For my hands are far too cold.

I am reclusive; damaged.
My body is fragile.
My heart is so calloused,
And my eyes are growing dull.
My hands are always cold.
Who needs cold feet when you can have cold hands?

This is my 9th Poem for NaPoWriMo2012! I actually thought I had lost this when I posted it at 11:59 pm and it said submission failure, and I had written it straight into the dA submission page. . . . so I wrote a new one but didn't finish it in time. So, this means that I haven't missed a day yet!

This was inspired by the prompt "The Cold Hands." It instantly reminded me of how, ever since I can remember, (and probably due to chronic illness or poor circulation,) I have always had cold hands - cold to the point where people notice even if I just accidentally bump into someone in the hallway.

I then thought of a hypothetical relationship. . . kind of like the 80-20 theory. . . the 20% part. That person can only provide their interest with 20% of what they need, and it isn't their fault, it's just that even if the two of them love each other, it can't be enough.
