Literature Text

Sometimes it makes me shiver,
But you always say
How much you love the rain.
I don't mind it either,
Especially when it's warm,
Like it was last night.
We were walking down the street,
When we started to feel
The droplets on our arms.
You said you loved the rain.
I didn't say anything.

We continued as we had
Though puddles began to form.
It wasn't very long until
Our hair and clothes
Were as drenched as the road.
Then the stars began to wake up,
And we stared into the sky.
You said how beautiful it was.
And I silently agreed.

Rivulets began to gurgle
Along side the curbs,
But the two of us kept walking,
Though we had nowhere to go.
And when the sky erupted,
We couldn't see two steps ahead.
You quickly swept me off my feet
Before the flash-flood could.

When the clouds relented
You set me down again.
I began to protest,
But you put a finger to my lips.
You brushed my hair
Behind my ears,
And kissed me on the nose.
You said my eyes
Looked like the starry rain,
But you loved me more than those.
This is my 8th poem for NaPoWriMo2012! I forgot to submit this until 12:37 in the morning, but I wrote it before 12:00 and it's not the next day till you wake up right? Ha Ha!

This is not autobiographical, in any way, shape, or form, this is not based off any real event, or person, not is it based on a book, song, or visual production of any kind. I did however use the prompt "Evening Rain."
