In such a small amount of words.

For Sake of ProgressA certain man, in sterile robes,
His prisoners to seek,
Comes strolling down the dingy halls,
That, nauseating, reek.

Their eyes reveal such grievous hurt.
Infection crusts each tear.
Corrosive burns are all they know,
Save tormentors they fear.

Now, here is a sedated one—
Electrodes watch his brain.
No drugs will he receive for his
Excruciating pain.

Experimental surgeries
For those who need them not,
But who cares should they live or die?
They're all just left to rot.

These needles inject certain death—
The cancers men abhor—
So maybe victims can be forced
To outlive those before.

What were the crimes that

Asking the CloudsWe're another year older,
But you're not a day wiser.
Why do you keep arguing
When you know that I'm smarter?
The ways to you try to explain things,
Are completely untrue.
I thought I made it clear that

SubtletiesI've been leaving hints and clues,
So you'd know how I feel for you,
But I guess that subtlety is not your game.
I guess I can't complain though,
Since reading you is difficult.
One moment you act like you're in love,

It would change everything.

ExhaustionI don't really want to talk right now,
But I don't want to be alone.

Are catching up to me,

It catapults you to the surface.
You cough and really breathe again,
Only to realize,
You never left the ground.

Heart ThiefThere is a tightness
In my chest.
It feels like your hands are
Closing around my heart,
Because it feels
So hard to breathe!
I guess that's why
My heart is beating faster:
I am becoming oxygen-deprived.
It just isn't natural
To be choking on the air.
Hurry up, heart thief,
Go ahead and take your trophy.
But then again,
It isn't really stealing,
Since it was always yours
To start with.
How long does it take
To plan this kind of heist?

Sea of GreenWe waded through a sea of green,
Broken up by only pale white, painted lines.
We stared up at the cotton clouds,
With our backs in the grass against the ground,
And wished there were stars in the air.
The sun, low in the skies,
Painted us golden-topaz.
And smiles lit up our eyes
As we passed laughter all around.
We watched as the glowing moon woke up,
And the stars traded shifts with the day;
As the lights came on when the darkness fell,
And the beauty of it stole all our words away.

Convince MeYou have the ability
To convince me,
If you tried.
I want to be persuaded
When you look
Into my eyes.
Please continue talking
Because your words
show me your view.
Maybe I'll believe them
When I feel
I've earned their truth.

Rib CageThere's a cage in my chest made of bones,
And it's keeping my heart locked in place.
My mistakes slowly welded it closed
So I wouldn't throw my love away.

Are there ways to slip under those bars?
Will the past be too hard to escape?
I'm attracted by all that you are,
Not the flattering words you could say.

There's attachment I know that you felt,
But I claimed not to reciprocate.
Now, the truth is, you made my heart melt.
I just hope that it isn't too late.

There's a rush that I feel in my head
Every time I am caught in your stare.
Though, I wish you could hold me instead,

This innocence could be.

TensionThe pressure is on--I feel it,
But right now, I cannot tell
If the tension is on the inside
Or the outside of my shell.

I admit that could be true.
But since I've all but vocalized

Your words so often reassure,
And make me feel important
On the days when I feel
Quite the opposite.
They make me laugh
So hard I cry,
And give me countless reasons why
Giving up is unacceptable.
Please, don't ever grow out of
Being so happy and perfect.
You're irreplaceable,
You should know,
In case you ever doubt that's so.
